Mr R was involved in a road traffic accident resulting in significant reconstructive surgery to his face, arm and leg and acquired brain injury. His family were really struggling with how the accident had affected his behaviour so I started to work with him to educate him and his family about his brain injury, the role of the frontal lobe and how this was affecting his cognition and behaviour.

I can’t believe it’s been 18 months since you first came to see me. I thought I was fine and going to be back to normal in no time. I know you had your work cut out getting through to me just how much trouble I was in. I could not see how bad tempered I had become and would like to thank you for your calm and reassuring way of making me see where I was. I now recognise where I am and try to handle it better.

You are great, unassuming, relaxing and kind and I have enjoyed our meetings and I have benefitted from the help you have given me. I know how pleased you are for me to do well and that matters to me, so thanks for all the help you have given me. I won’t forget you and will always have fond memories of our sessions. You really were a great help in my recovery.  Mr R, October 2020.
